Maria Fundora, owner of Casa Nuova, started her charity, Purple Pansies, in 2007 after losing her mother to pancreatic cancer. Since then the organization has raised over $1.5 million for pancreatic research efforts. But when coronavirus hit, the organization shifted gears to assist those on the front lines, treating dozens of hospital and Kroger employees to lunch as a show of thanks.
